How it works
After attending 9 online classes with awarded speakers and a full creativity day @Mindspace Victoriei, eligible entrants work in teams of 2 to answer 3 real briefs, selected by TheAlternativeSchool along with partners. The Romanian qualifying competitions are designed to prepare the teams for the Global Young Lions Competition taking place during the Cannes Lions Festival, from June 19-June 23, 2023.

In 2023, Romania will send a team to compete in the DESIGN Category. There are also chances for the competitions to be opened in the following categories as well:

Competition details / Summary
3 briefs – 2 semester briefs +1 brief to be solved in 48h. Over the weekend of April 1st – April 2nd, teams of two will participate in a brief competition in their registered category, modeled after the global competitions in Cannes. A brief will be unveiled when the competition begins.
Key Dates
Before February, 20th: Early-bird registration is open for the 2023 Romanian Young Lions competition 200 E + VAT, individual application /300 E + VAT – team of 2
Until January 27th: Scholarship competition. Stay tuned, more scholarship briefs might follow.
After February 20st: Regular priced registration is open for the 2023 Romanian Young Lions competition 300 E + VAT for the individual application & 500 E – team of 2.

March 20 – April, 14th 2023: 1 INTRO OVER ZOOM + 8 ZOOM MEETINGS (7-9.30 PM / TUESDAYS / THURSDAYS) + 1 CREATIVITY DAY IN PERSON @MINDSPACE VICTORIEI & ANNOUNCING THE JURORS
3 Briefs to be solved between March, 20 and April 14:
-2 during the semester, improving the solutions upon feedback

Local competition winners might present their perspective on The Future of Creativity or their performances over the Cannes Summer events (Portfolio Night, TalentBet)
Eligibility. To be eligible to enter, you must:
not older than 30 years of age prior to June 23, 2023;
be able to submit your entry in English;
be available to participate in the Global Young Lions Competition during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity during the June 19 – June 23, 2023 timeframe;
work in the creative industry as a freelancer, self employed or employee.
team background: Brightest YOUNG PROFESSIONALS working in media; Planners, strategists & buyers from agencies, publishers & clients; Teams of two. At least one is fluent in visual languages; Romanian citizens
How to Enter
Complete the scholarship brief until January 27th or for those willing to enroll skipping the scholarship competition thrill the access fees are available
Secure your spot & buy:
Young Lions competition 300 E + VAT for the individual application & 500 E – team of 2.
Early bird – until February 20th: 150 E + VAT, individual application /300 E + VAT – team of 2.
After February 20th, the attendance fees will be 300 E + VAT, individual application & 500 E for a team of 2.
Judging
Submissions will be reviewed by this year’s panel of experienced, awarded judges, which will be announced soon.
Prizing
In addition to being awarded Romania’s Young Lions for 2023 and representing Romania at Cannes Lions, each winning team receives:
Two (2) registration passes to attend the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for the winning team
Accommodation in Cannes, France in a shared space, for the duration of the Festival
NOTE: The team going to Cannes will take care of their transportation.

Past winners
Since 2005, Romania’s Young Lions have seen tremendous success in the global competitions with 2 Gold medals in Cyber and Design, 1 Bronze in Print, 1 Order Of Merit in the Young Lions competition, 1 gold at The Storytelling academy for the 2 Romanian members of the international team, whilst the alumni managed to constantly score Lions trophies & other relevant industry accolades on the international stage.
The Alternative School has been the host of the Young Lions competitions since 2005.
Jury
An esteemed panel of industry leaders and experts from Romania and abroad will evaluate the solutions associated with the 3 semester briefs to choose the best work from Romania’s top young talent in the creative industries.
